First off!
I see bright futures for all three console's. ( yes the ps3 as well, if you can't see it stop going to large media sites). Oh yea, another thing you may want to look out for is trying not to rely on the large media sites (joystiq,ign,gamespot etc) those are driven by the editors personal preference's. Site's like ps3fanboy.com post nothing but crap about the console it should be praising. but enough about sony lets get to al the consoles...
The Xbox 360. Here's where things get interesting, for being known for the rrod microsoft has come back and they have hit sony hard. I never really thought the 360 would do this well, but it did! Widest Library and a very diverse online experience make this a great console. Microsoft has come a long way and they did a great job. I personally don't own a 360 anymore , well i do but its dead so hopefuly ill purchase one in the next few months. Iv'e also read that the heat sinks have been fixed slightly and that the rrod isn't much of a problem anymore so thats great. While the 360 will do great, it will most likely have the shortest lifespan. We may see the next xbox in 2011-2012. I mean just think about it, the 360 has so many great features right now that I don't why it needs another major feature. Take netflix for example, a feature as big as that is not needed till the next xbox in my opinion. I also still see halo paving the way to success for the next 360. I really wish I could say something wrong about the console so that people wouldn't think that Im a 360fanboy but I can't. The System still has a good line up coming too. The price of live may have to be lowered due to the fact that soon the ps3 will be catching up and people may favor it because of the minimal extra costs after buying the system. Don't lie to yourselves guys, once the ps3 see's a price drop which will be within a year or two the 360 isn't gonna be the cheapest source for great gaming.
The Nintendo Wii. Ok, the Wii- fun system. I think its the best console to play with your friends (in real life not online). The system really connects you to other people like no other console! Nintendo has done a fine job with the system and has changed the way we interact and have fun with each other while gaming. Iv'e got some "beefs" with the wii though. I understand how amazingly well its doing but I kinda find it annoying the way my friends or people at gamestop, especially the media talk about the system like its the second coming of christ. Now im not hating on the wii I just find it unfair to both microsoft and sony which have to go a great lengths to get the media to favor them.( thats a beef, not a fact. my opinion thank you) I read an article today (think it was kotaku) about vgchartz praising wii sports as the number one selling game of alllll timmeeee! yea!!! ...too bad the game comes with your system whether you like it or not. Now why is that? They stated that it isnt bundled in japan and i believe korea but I don't think that Wii sports sold 40mill+ copies in just those 2 countries. So why? why even bother if its bundled with the system? This is the "second coming" stuff im talking about. Sites that pose as unbiased put out article's like that. Why don't we just give super mario bro's its glory because 40mill+ people actually bought that game(or did they? i hope). I also do not see a long lifespan for the system, probably a 2012 or 2013. When I say this i mean towards the hardcore crowd. I don't know any hardcore wii gamers. The system sells extremely well and will sell well for the years. By that time the hardcore wii crowd will probably switch to the 8th gen or at least abandon it.Pikimin remakes and another galaxy isnt gonna feed the hardcore too well. What I'm really looking foreward to is nintendos next handheld! Not the dsi I mean like a whole new handheld! Even as a psp fanboy ( i admit it) I can't wait to see what they create.
The Sony Playstation 3. The ps3 on the other hand will end up lasting the longest. Before we get into that lets get some things straight.- Sony's plan with the ps3 is based on long terms, microsoft and nintendo's plans with their console's aren't. What Sony is doing and what people don't seem to understand is that they are creating a base for a long console term. The ps2 is very successful, meaning high expectations come from people when they think about a ps3. This is their problem, they are having a tough time converting their ps2 base to ps3. Being that its so hard its taking a long time. Anything sony does is criticized left and right. It's that huge bar people have because of the ps2. Sony has made another 10 year console. In the end, they will have all the advantage's! Power and value. What's the best value in the gaming market today? The PS3 my friends. Eventually price won't matter. couple years from now the ps3 will be cheaper than today and despite how cheap the wii and 360 are it will become quite successful. I don't think it will become first but it will definately shake up microsoft. Another thing, if you complain that the ps3 doesn't have enough good games you play too much. I am sorry but I play a reasonable amount of gaming and can't even figure out how I would run out of exclusives! I don't wana get into the formats and hardware and stuff but mock my words kiddos the ps3 is coming back with a vengance. This is sony people, you think they're not gonna do anything about it? My only beef with Sony is the lack of marketing they have for the system. Sometime's it seems like they don't even care.
